I entered nightlife in 2001.

My first promoted event was called RAW. We threw it at a mansion in Bel Air. About 3,000 people showed up.

I didn't have a system. I didn't have a plan for that many people. I just figured it out.

That night taught me something I didn't fully understand at the time: if you don't have control, you're guessing.

The Education

Between events, I spent years building the California operation for a water purification company owned by one of the more quietly remarkable people I've encountered — the founder of a major European entertainment park and a Silicon Valley technology company. A Waldorf Business School alumnus.

He didn't teach me nightlife. He taught me how businesses actually work — operations, scale, client relationships, what it takes to build something that runs without you holding it together by hand.

The next best thing to going to Waldorf is being mentored by someone who did.

That education runs through everything NiteLight is built on.

What I Built

Awaken the Night

Sound systems. Big ones. Built around Funktion-One.
Founded in 2015 — during a Lyme fever dream. Still operating.

Westword Best of Denver 2022

Sugarkube

Members-only nightclub. 6,500 people in the system.
They showed up. They came back. They spent money.
Before "membership" was a trend, we were already doing it.

6,500 active members

What It Actually Feels Like
It's 11pm. You walk the floor.
Something's off.

The bar isn't moving. The crowd isn't there yet. And in your head you're thinking: did we mess this one up?

  • relied on promoters who didn't deliver
  • spent money on marketing that did nothing
  • posted on social and got zero turnout

What Changed
Not: "Why didn't this work?"
"Why didn't I see this coming?"

That's the shift. If you can see it early, you can fix it. If you can't — you're just reacting.

What NiteLight Is
  • Not a ticketing app
  • Not another marketing tool
  • Who's coming back
  • What nights are weak
  • What people actually respond to
  • What to do about it before it's too late

Every event gives you feedback. People show up — or they don't. They come back — or they don't. Most venues ignore that. They book the next night and hope.

When you have a system, you don't rely on promoters as much. You don't guess what to book. You don't wait until 11pm to find out. You know earlier. You act earlier. Things get a lot more predictable.
